Dragon Pavilion
Beijing's Beihai Park is a fantastic old place, with a history of over 1000 years. Kublai Khan, the Mongolian who invaded China and established the Yuan Dynasty, lived here in the 13th century. It is lovely to stroll here under willow trees or to visit the palaces, pavilions, pagodas, statues and gardens that surround the lake.
This is one of the Five Dragon Pavilions, built in 1602, which sit along the lake's northern shore. These pavilions were used for moon viewing. Today, Beijingers come each morning to dance, sing old songs and share a memory.
